Henderson Equine Clinic has gone Digital!

We've changed management software!  If you call the office you may notice you're being asked to provide your e-mail address and if you would prefer all of your clinical summaries and invoices to be e-mailed rather than mailed!

Beginning December 2017 we switched to a cloud based management and record system, which allows us to keep updated records, histories, and contact information in the cloud and to view it on any device that has access to the internet.  All lab work and reports automatically upload from the referral laboratories directly into your horse's record, and can be sent on to your e-mail address with the click of a button!

The doctors will now have access to a patient's complete history, past records of any treatments or problems, and previous appointment summaries all on-site while seeing the patient.

Our records are now more detailed than ever as we can add pictures and videos right into the individual clinical record.  We now have the ability to e-mail indepth records, summaries, and treatment plans as well as financial statements and receipts digitally, providing faster and more efficient comminication between the clinic staff and our clients.

We love the ability to stay in closer contact with our clients!

Stay tuned for additional updates as we fine tune our use of this great software! (Client portals for accessing your horse's clinical records are in the works!)

3 Meter Gastroscope New at Henderson Equine Clinic!

Gastroscopy involves visualisation of the inside of the horse’s upper gastrointestinal tract in order to diagnose equine gastric ulcer syndrome (EGUS).  Studies have shown that gastric ulcers have been found in 2 out of 3 horses in heavier work/competition.  The procedure involves using a 3 meter flexible video endoscope which allows direct examination of the stomach lining.  Our system offers full screen, real-time imaging and allows for storage of full videos and pictures.

Gastroscopy can be performed stall side or in clinic!

MR4ACTIVet Pro and MR4ACTIVet Rental Unit Now At HEC!

We are now happy to offer MR4ACTIVet Pro and MR4ACTIVet Laser treatments.

Multi Radiance MR4 ACTIVet lasers use super pulsing red, infrared and blue wavelengths to deliver powerful pain relief and healing to animals.

The synchronous use of high power super pulsed laser, and ultra-bright infrared, red and blue LEDs optimizes the biological effects of the entire photo-therapeutic window to accelerate healing and reduce pain.

Laser therapy delivers light energy units, in the form of photons, to damaged cells. The photons, absorbed by the cells through laser therapy, stimulate the mitochondria to accelerate production of ATP (Adenosine Triphosphate). This biochemical increase in cell energy is used to help transform cells from a state of disease into a stable, healthy state.

The blue LED light accelerates wound repair and reduces bacteria in wounds, providing our patients with safe, fast and drug-free therapy options. The increase in power can shorten treatment times and provide powerful pain relief.

Typical treatment duration with these lasers is 5-15 minutes depending on the size of the area and the condition being treated, with treatments varying from daily to 2-3 times weekly, depending on acuteness of injury.

Hand Held and Cordless!

The MR4 ACTIVet Pro is also used to treat small areas and stimulate acupuncture points for horses that may be adverse to needles.

We pffer the MR4ACTIVet Laser to clients on a rental basis, to allow a continuation of prescribed treatments at home on a daily basis if needed.

Equinosis Q with Lameness Locator Now At HEC

The Equinosis Q with Lameness Locator is a precision lameness measurement tool, developed by Dr Kevin Keegan, equine surgeon and University of Missouri Lameness Program Director, in collaboration with university engineering professors.

Accurate to less than 1mm at 100 meters, it can detect lamenesses the human eye just can't see.  Microelectric inertial sensors (accelerometers) measure motion of the head and pelvis, and a gyroscope on the leg measures the timing of the stride.  Normal gait movement is not restricted and analysis results are reported in seconds.  This real-time wireless data collection allows precise measurments of how the horse moves.

What the Lameness Locator can do for your horse:

  • Evaluate mild or multiple limb lameness
  • Quantify effectiveness of diagnostic nerve and joint blocks
  • Gauge effectiveness of therapeutics
  • Monitor rehabilitation progress
  • Assess asymmetry in pre-purchase examinations
  • Measure rider effects on lameness

Give us a call at 585-243-5560 or e-mail us at hendersonequine@gmail.com to ask about our Lameness Locator Competition Packages!
